Mere Saathi is now partnering with Helping India Together.  HIT is a USA-based 501c3 NGO with years of experience delivering healthcare and education services to marginalized communities in India.  HIT carefully plans and inspects its funded projects that train and support healthcare workers, teachers, and their families.  We’re excited to be working with HIT leadership and donors who care deeply about these communities.

HIT is already providing support to Mere Saathi for in-country transportation and logistics, networking with heathcare organizations in Uttar Pradesh, knowledge of Indian government regulations and economic and social infrastructure, and in-country hostelry for Mere Saathi volunteers.  HIT also provides 501c3 services, so that Mere Saathi stakeholders can make tax-deductible donations with confidence and receive annual reports for accountability.

Our March visit to India with HIT produced immediate benefits.  HIT arranged logistics for our clinics and research in Dalit villages near the town of Kachhwa in the state of Uttar Pradesh.   They also enabled introductions and strategy sessions with administrators, doctors, and staff at the Kachhwa Christian Hospital (KCH).  KCH staff briefed us on the hospital’s medical services and healthcare outreach to surrounding villages.  We briefed KCH staff on the importance of a One Health approach to both people and animal care in villages where people and their animals and livelihood are so closely intertwined.  Mere Saathi and KCH agreed on ways to apply One Health methods in two Dalit villages where KCH healthcare outreach is already under way, with the goal of expanding to other villages in the future.
